There´s something about this unknown that is enticing, and even gives us a child-like nostalgia for the wild-west, frontiersmen, and explorers. While many of these roads just lead to pastures, fields of cattle and sheep, there is the odd road that winds you up to a breathtaking canyon overlook that rewards your senses. But, we don´t do it for the reward, often times we just do it for the journey. FSA´s SL-K Modular BB386EVO Adventure Crankset is tailored, as the name might have you guessing, to the adventurer. With lightweight construction that lets you send yourself into the beyond, tour further, and push up tedious miles of gravel to test yourself and allow yourself to ignite your inner explorer as you push beyond the pavement.

The SL-K´s adventure model is hungry for the moments when you head off of the beaten path, with gearing for easier climbing and conquering hurdles, and a compact design that´s well suited for touring setups and gravel bikes. The versatility of a 46-30t crankset gives you the relief you need when pedaling into headwinds on remote desert highways, and powering up through fire roads in the forests of interior BC, and the power for crushing down windy canyons, or rolling onto singletrack.

While the SL-K Adventure and Gossamer Adventure might sport some similarities when it comes to versatile gearing, and bottom bracket standards, the SL-K excels beyond the Gossamer with incredibly lightweight hollow carbon fiber crank arms, which both increases the stiffness of your pedal stroke, and lightens your load when you´re powering up remote gravel roads. The SL-K Modular Adventure Crankset uses a direct mount outer chainring, and an inner chainring with a 90mm bcd, with four chromoly chainring bolts to ensure durability. The inner rings attach to the crank with four bolts, as opposed to the 5 used in the gossamer, and uses a Torx interface that protects against stripping, while allowing for proper torqueing of hardware. A tight fit and snug fasteners means less power-robbing flex and decreased chance for strange creaking noises to develop, so you´ll spend more time enjoying the soft hum of a well-tuned drivetrain and the ambient sounds of the path you roll through.

As with most of FSA´s cranksets, the SL-K Adventure crankset is built to the 386EVO standard, whose modularity makes it every frame´s best friend. It´s got the dimensions to clear even massive BBright shells, but FSA manufactures a range of adapters to mate it to any common bottom bracket shell.
